The manual suggests that this should work.
What does "not working" mean?
You get some sort of error message?
What is this computer? Windows? Mac? Something else?
If Windows 10, what happens when you try this?

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

like michaelkenward says, you should be able to use that port to connect devices.
I've even seen users connect a switch to it so they can connect more devices.
Have you tried a different ethernet cable?
Or a different device?
