I hope the following will answer you questions:
V1.0.4.128_10.0.104
Spectrum Land Line direct to the modem. Router connected Ethernet direct to the Modem
Laptop Computer
Both--5 foot Ethernet cable connected between laptop and router. When cable is connected-the 300+ reading, when removed, the 45 to 50 reading.
I am using the Spectrum Speed Test.
Wired (Ethernet) direct to laptop, 300+, Laptop or Desktop (not wired) on the house WiFi 40 to 50 mps.

So hardwired you get full speed.
When over wireless you're only getting 50mbps Ish.
But you don't say if you're connected to the 2.4ghz or the 5ghz.
2.4ghz is a slow network and sensitive to interference so 50mbps over 2.4ghz rather solid speeds. Over 5ghz, not so much.
What wireless card is in the laptop you're testing with?

The testing was on the 2.4 mbps.
Not sure how to find the laptop card but the attached is the devices on that computer
I can accept your thought that 2.4 is relatively slow, however, just wondering why the significant drop in speed through the router.

that realtek card is a pretty old single band 2.4ghz device from 2009.
that 45-50 is about all you can expect from it. there's no way it was hitting 300mbps over 2.4ghz.
I'm not sure if you were looking at link speed or what you were looking at but its not capable of those speeds.
5ghz is but that card isn't 5ghz capable.

I was looking at the numbers from the Spectrum Speed test. At least we can agree that the router is ok. My wife has no complaints and my desktop computer seems to work ok also, even though it is up stairs and away from the router. Don't want to beat this thing to death, but do want to thank you for your help. Lets call it a solution.
