Mystery of the R8000 and the disappearing files

X6 R8000 with Firmware Version V1.0.4.76_10.1.82 on Windows 10.
I had the exact same problem as described in Mystery of the R7000 and the disappearing files.
USB comes up fine on the dashboard, "ping \\readyshare" command responds 100%, but \\readyshare\T_Drive was showing "this folder is empty" in Windows Explorer. Where are my files !?!

The solution for me was to try different USB thumb drives. Finally one of them worked!
Obviously it's a compatibility problem and Netgear software is very picky...
Also, the R8000 has two USB input ports - USB3.0 and USB2.0. Noticed that plugging the same valid USB2 drive into the USB3 port did not work - so, no backwards compatibility.

What is the brand and model# of the USB drives you have?

    What Brand USB drive worked?

What Brand USB drive didn't work?

No brand or model. I use cheap chinese-made without identification. The one that worked was an old 8GB USB2.0.
      Just gettin the job done...

        ...found some more info:
The one working has entirely metal casing, a keychain ring and an HP logo (which could be fake).
One that works everywhere else except in the router is a SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 128GB
