You have the R6080? its a router only device.
Xfinity does require a cable modem to connect to them.
You can rent one from xfinity or purchase one yourself. Up to you which route you go.

Thank you,
Does netgear have a modem I can purchase?
Or would I have to receive it directly through Xfinity?
If I can purchase it, what modem is compatible with the Ac1000?

Netgear has many modem compatible with xfinty.
It just depends on speed and modem.
1. AC1000 is a speed, not a router model. What router do you have?
2. What speeds do you plan on subscribing to? Or plan on upgrading to?
If you go to xfinity's site, they tell you what modems for each speed tier.

The R6080 is apparently the only model advertised as "AC1000".
It also has particularly limited capabilities. See, for example:

A Web or forum search for that model should find many owners who were
dissatisfied by its speed limitation.> 2. What speeds do you plan on subscribing to? Or plan on upgrading to?
If the answer is higher than 100Mb/s, then the R6080 is not a wise
choice of router.
