Need help with Nighthawk AC2300 Set up (I'm a senior citizen)

Hi.  Struggling to get wi-fi to work with this new (to me) router.  I followed the manual set up directions and have white lights everywhere except on wi-fi which is blinking amber.  I do have my laptop on ethernet connected to the same modem as the Nighthawk.  Is that a problem?  Is there somewhere on the Netgear site that I need to do more than just give the Nighthawk Serial # and MAC?  Is there some sort of activation there that I didn't see?  Again, as a senior citizen trying to make sense of this increasingly complicated digital world I'd appreciate help.  Thanks!
