So, the "abuse" (a DDOS attack) is identified in the log and the attack has gotten bad enough that it has made a noticeable impact on my WAN network performance.In addition, (and this is just a hunch), the amount of heat generated by the router would indicate that its 4 processors are really struggling to keep up with all the requests. Historically, my LAN (we've got just a few devices accessing the Internet) does not generate enough of a workload to cause a router to get hot. Hope that answers your question.

Do a whois lookup on those IP addresses from in from the WAN side.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Have your ISP help you reboot the ISP modem and get a new WAN IP address...
