Need restore SMB1 or SMB v1 support for ReadyShare Storage.
I use a small USB external HD in the ReadShare Storage as a music library for SONOS S1 controller. This has worked fine for years but for months now it is not working anymore. The SONOS support inf...

Allow me a picture to better explain my issue. With the old router firmware file share was using SMB v1 protocol and everything was OK ( Windows had SMB v1 enabled ).
With the new router firmware file share is now using SMB v2 protocol and Windows (even with SMB v1 disabled) can file share with the router, BUT ... the SONOS S1 application in Android and Windows is permanently dependent on SMB v1 protocol to file share. I do not know the last router firmware that supported SMB v1 or the first firmware that disabled SMB v1. There are so many old firmwares and instead of install one by one to discover I have an expectation someone here knows which one ended with the SMB v1 protocol.

I'm with FURRYe38. This is not a Netgear firmware thing. It is Windows. (Did you try that?) The topic comes up here every month or so.
Feel free to work your way through all the firmware versions for your R7000.
Visit the support pages:

That page will also have firmware for your device.

Currently my WIndows 10 is running without SMB v1 and I can map the HD in R7000 or add it as a network location. The problem is that the SONOS S1 application includes the SMB v1 file share protocol in there application, in both Windows and Android. By the way, using SONOS S1 application in Android I can not connect the same way I can not connect with Windows. SONOS developed S2 application that now supports SMB v2, v3 protocols but I can not upgrade to S2 because I have many SONOS great sound speakers that are not compatible with S2, so in terms of using SONOS I am stuck with S1.
In parallel, I would like to make the question: What is the SMB version that this last router firmware is using ?
It should not be v1 because my Windows has v1 disabled and I still can file share with the router ( in Windows File Explorer but not in SONOS S1, because it has v1 hard coded).

There are other protocols supported for accessing a Network Location, for example ftp or http. Capabilities are limited however. none of these does change anything about the original issue.
