Netflix blocked on Nvidia Shield TV with Live Parental Controls enabled
I am unable to play Netflix videos on my Nvidia Shield TV when Live Parental Controls are enabled. If I use OpenDNS filtering with similar settings and manually specifying the OpenDNS DNS server...

The solution was to switch the router firmware to DD-WRT and follow these instructions:

The stock firmware provides no useful information in troubleshooting the problem.

Yes, when I disable Live Parental Controls, then Netflix works fine. Netflix also works fine when using vanilla OpenDNS. It only fails when using Live Parental Controls enabled.
That KB artical you sent is quite familiar to me by now. It does not help me resolve my issue.

Seems like there maybe a configuration issue in the settings maybe. What are you wanting to do with the controls exactly. Manage whos watching netflix or using the TV device?

Ok, if it is a settings issue, what settings are there to set? As far as I can see, you enable LPC and choose a filtering level. That's it. If there is some other setting that might be related to this, please tell me what it is.
All I want to do with the controls is block porn for the entire network, mostly for web surfing. Unfortunately, simply enabling LPC blocks Netflix streaming on the Nvidia Shield TV.
I understand that you need to assume that I did something wrong, that makes sense. But are there specific troubleshooting steps that I can take to figure out what is wrong? I'm decently adept at understanding networking, DNS, firewalls, ... as I am a developer in IT. I see no way to get logs about what DNS lookups are taking place and what IPs they resolve to.

Not sure of LPC is that granular to block ALL or any "porn" content.
I'd contact NG support and ask about this...

How about if you set Netflix under Whitelist to Never block?
You may set it in this link. Once you're logged in, go to Account Settings and select Blacklist/Whitelist tab.- BruceBrouwerJun 17, 2017Aspirant
