Netgear Nighthawk 5ghz band crashing while 2.4ghz is uninterupted

I have a Netgear Nighthawk 7000p with a 500 Mbps connection. I am in the next room over from it connected wirelessly getting full signal and download speed. Regardless of what I am doing on the network whether it be downloading a large file or just web browsing, the 5ghz channel inevitably crashes after some time. The 2.4 Ghz is not affected and I am able to immediately switch to that channel and resume. Usually it is just a few minutes before the router will allow me to connect back to the 5 ghz channel. This has not happened in months but it has happened before, with a completely different router as well so I don't think that is the issue.

Here's what I have tried so far:

Reset router through admin controls

Manually update routers firmware

use Wifi analyzer to select best channels

manually reinstall network adapter drivers on pc

verify adapter using the right protocol

reset network config through cmd prompt.
