Netgear Nighthawk r7000 ethernet ports only work with prefab cable

Hi,

I have searched the forum but cannot find this specific problem. I recently bought the Nighthawk router and connected it to my internet connection, this works fine with WIFI.

However, when i try to connect my lan cables, i experience problems. At first, when connecting a cable on port 1 directly to my laptop, i have perfect instant connection using dhcp. The next steps were to connect other devices to the other ports. This is were the strange behaviour started.

When connecting the next cable to port 3, i got a red light. However when connecting the cable (which was still connected to my laptop) from 2 to port 3, i got instant connection again.

After quite a lof of investigation and time, for now i made a conclusion that all fabrics cables are working fine, and the self made cable connections (rj45) don't work.

To be clear. I have never experience these type of problems in the past, the cables were always working fine on my previous router

Am i doing something wrong here?
