Are you using the same source and destination storage volumes in each
case?

   Other than stuff related to "guest networks", I wouldn't expect a
difference.

   Before blaming the software, I'd look more closely at the hardware.

   Do Internet speed test results differ greatly on the
sometimes-wireless computer between when it's wired or wireless?  (Is
this a problem with the wireless interface for file sharing or for any
communication?)

   What does Windows have to say about the speed of that wireless
interface?

   Does a different wired/wireless computer see the same difference?

   General wireless stuff?  Different radio band or channel?  (Which
band are you using?)

   Compare copying in the other direction?
