The .88 was a fairly solid firmware and has likely been on your router for ages.
And your issues happens with hardwired devices as well.
I'd be more suspicious of your broadcast internet being the issue as random things can cause interference with it at those low of levels.
What happens if you hardwire the xbox directly to the broadcast internet connection and run it?
Do you still get drops (run it for long enough to ensure stabily or lack of)
