well since it arrived exactly 2 months ago, the answer is no I have not done a factory reset since i got it... i would assume when i reset it the first time it would be up to date as of 2 months ago, have there been many updates in last 2 months that i should consider another reset?

Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
That page will also have any software, firmware and drivers for your device, if they exist.
You will see a library of firmware there. This is the latest:
R7000P Firmware Version 1.3.3.152 | Answer | NETGEAR Support
That is dated "08/04/2022". Unfortunately, Netgear using a dating system unlike anything used in the sane world, so that date is 4th August 2022 (04/07/2022), which maybe within your two-month window.
Did you update the firmware when it arrived? It may have arrived with an old version. It probably tried to to do that in the setup process. But did you let it apply that update?
No harm in checking.

I am usually good with doing firmware updates so if it asked me to do it, then i did it, however that firmware ends in 152 and mine is like 126 so that is newer... I would love to download it and install it but they don't tell you anywhere how to do that, so i guess i will not be updating it any time soon, until they make it easy to do so....

I really miss my asus, it was a far superior router then this one is.... in the asus i could use windows and firefox and log into it, and click the firmware button and it would check download and install for me in one step... netgear needs to step up their game....

I can do that with my Netgear routers, including my R7000P.
That makes me wonder why it doesn't work for you.
I should add that I don't use that approach myself. I like to manually update firmware. But the "check" process can alert me to new versions.

Wow, much easier to do things that way then with that silly app they have for a cell phone... firmware updated now, will stop back if I have any more problems with the 5g dropping off... thank you for all your help...

well it happened again exactly 2 days later right down to the hour, the 5g just disappeared again, rebooted router and it is back again....
