Netgear Nighthawk router

I've got a crap general issue router from my ISP and want to upgrade to the nighthawk. I hear it's leagues better than most routers on the market and was hoping to hear some opinions from gamers who have a nighthawk router.

    I'm not a huge gamer but i have used isp supplied devices before. 

    a 3rd party router does tend to be a nice jump in performance but a lot depends on your setup. 

    LIke modem your using, is the gaming device hardwired/wireless, how big the home is, what the home is made from, what type of environment is it in (apartments/condos/etc have more interference). 

    Its not just looking at one factory when you're looking at optmizing your gaming experience.
