Netgear nighthawk x6, M#R8000 capable of printing from a non WiFi printer?
Hello all, Thanks for having me. First in the “select location” box above my WiFi router is not listed. What is plugged in is as close as I can get to my equipment.
I have a nagging problem I hope someone can help resolve. We bought a Canon image class MF3010 lazer printer 7-8 months back (late summer 22). At the time we did not realize it is a USB wired only printer.
I have asked everyone in the world (including canon support) if it can be made a WiFi printer. Most answers were the same, no way it’s does not have wifi built in.
I am a disabled senior but still have a thought process, a common sense mind, but that’s all.
I believe being there is a usb 2&3 port on the R8000 that the printer can be plugged into the R8000 and be part of the wifi network.
Therefore the R8000 should receive a print command from any device that uses the R8000 WiFi network and point it to the printer via the USB cable. I may be wrong, dead wrong.
Has anyone dealt with this issue before? It is a $105 printer from Walmart but all we can afford on limited monthly income. We don’t print enough to keep ink wet in inkjet printers plus the ink cost more than the printer.
Thats why we decided to get a cheap lazer printer. I have needed to print several things in the past but just said oh well. But, now it’s Tax time and I need a printer ASAP. Any help is greatly appreciated be it positive or negative. I make have to cook and eat the canon lazer printer if this is not possible. We live in a wireless world I have nothing to plug the USB cable into other than my laptop. That is a nightmare to attemp, the printers USB cord has a special end that plugs into the printer but a USB 2 on the other end. But is in no man’s land, especially a staggering broken down old man.

Might review this:

Thought might be easier to find a USB to printer server device that has a wireless or ethernet conenction support to connect to the router then connect the USB printer to this print server device.

You are talking to the wrong people. The MF3010 does not seem to support wifi.

I may be wrong, dead wrong. You are on the right track. The R8000 does support ReadySHARE printing. But it doesn't support the printer without a bit of help from you,
Set that up and the network will happily talk to your printer.
The key bit there is to set it up.
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Share a USB Printer. That section also has downloads to get your printer to work with USB.
Then there is this:
Happy printing.
BY the way, the R8000 doesn't really belong in this section. For more help try here:
