I have the R7800 and I can say it's definitely stable, but getting on age. But if you want to put a third-party firmware one any of those, you better ask on the OpenWrt forums. This one is for stock NG firmware only.
PS: my R7800 runs on Voxel's, which is stock with updated components, tweaks and fixes.
