It's the firmware. Netgears last 2 releases .58 and.60 have connection issues and latency problems. This has been talked about on verious forums. The solution right now is to roll back to version .52 or use Voxel's firmware .62. untill NG releaes a fix.

I'm on .62 as well and everything works with no issues. Some people also report the 5 GHz issue of .58 and .60 is fixed. I can't confirm or deny as I don't use that band

Thank you bmurmistro for the heads up on the new .62 firmware.
My initial feedback: the periodic wireless drop issue seems vastly improved, but not entirely gone:
- Used to be ~10 seconds of drop every ~10 minutes (with fw .58 / .60)
- Now with fw .62 I observe ~3 seconds of higher pings (100-200ms) every 3 minutes (quite consistently). No full drop. 🤷🏻‍♂️local ping test on firmware 1.0.2.62
Test method used: pinging a wired machine on the local network while laptop is connected via 5 GHz.
