NETGEAR R8000 router capped at 100mbps

So I recently got ATT Fiber and I plugged MY router into one of my houses ethernet port. The reason why I can't connect my router straight to the modem is because my modem is in a tight closet. I noticed while I was on my router network, the speeds were under 100mbps. I looked into ATT's login page and found my router information and says "connection speed: 100mbps fullduplex. Ive edited the ports so that its 1G full duplex but when I go back to the description it says 100mbps. I tried many solutions like checking all the cables, resetting the router. The confusing thing is that I was getting 1G internet on spectrum cable. PLZ HELP!!!

What is that modem? Make and model?

What sort of Internet service do you have now?

Have you tried moving the router to right next to that att gateway and connecting it with a known good 6ft cable?

If you have it in a closet, you have a fairly long run and probably custom ends on that cable. I've frequently seen poor ends or cables cause it to drop from gigabit to 10/100mbps.
