Netgear R9000 10Gb SFP port question.
I have a Netgear R9000 router that has a 10Gb port via and SFP adapter. I have tried 2 different SFP+ adapters and neither of them work. In fact they both get very hot to the touch and I turn off ...

I have the latest firmware.
The ISP device is a Nokia XS-010X-Q

I have tried SFP+ adapters
Cable Matters 104068-N
XZSNET XZS-SFP10G-T
neither work and get VERY hot. they are so hot you cant touch them for more than 1 second or get burned.
Even when I set the Wan port preference to 10g radio button it never shows a connection.
I am either doing something wrong of these adapters are not compatible. They both say SFP+ and list Netgear as compatible though.
you mention the internal fan having a method to turn it on, how do you do that? I cant find it in the web management or the manual.
thanks

Does the SFP port work in LAN mode?
- RepivSep 03, 2024Aspirant
I cant get the SFP port to work under any circumstances. I have tried both adapters and nothing. I will try 1 more time.
If this does work eventually it is a horrible process. Incidentally once I plug in the SFP+ adapter it kills my connection to the router. it just stops responding. I have to plug in a wireless adapter to get it going again. I have tried resetting the Nokia ISP bridge, resetting the R9000. so far no combination works.
I did find the thermal fan setting with a little internet digging.

Possible the R9000 could be faulty on the SFP port...
