netgear router can't connect

I have no idea what I am doing.  My mobile devices couldn't connect to the wifi.  Internet was fine. I turned power on and off the router and modem.  I was unable to connect to my netgear network.  I had an extender on that I unplugged. Still no wifi signal.  Re tried rebooting the network and no result. So.....I hit the factory reset on the router...probably really bad idea. Now I am unable to get anything as far as a wi fi connection.  The nighthawk app cannot find the router. A WiFi network does not appear on my iphone.

    Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
    Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
    Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    Turn on computers and rest of network.
