If you want seamless WiFi roaming, then you can't avoid the Orbi.
I moved on from Orbi to the MK Mesh routers recently, wipes the floor with Orbi.

My 8 and 9 series Orbi work far better than the MKs IMO.

I jumped several generations, from oldest Orbi to newest MK.
If nothing else, the design of the Orbi is horrible in comparison.

Hard to claim that since you haven't seen newer generation Orbi. HW is solid. Far better than the MK HW.

In which aspects please?
Compare:
MK6x Dual-band (MR60/MS60) AX1800 (600 + 1200 Mbps), the 2x2 radios are supporting 80 MHz bandwidth
MK7x Dual-band (MR70/MS70) AX3000 (600 + 2400 Mbps), 2x2 (2.4GHz) + 2x2 (5GHz), the 5 GHz radios are supporting 160 MHz bandwidth
MK8x Tri-band (MR80/MS80) AX3600 (600 + 1200 + 1800 Mbps), 2x2 (2.4GHz) + 2x2 (5GHz) + 3x3 (5GHz) system.
Orbi 8 Tri-band AX6000 (1200 + 2400 + 2400 Mbps), 2x2 (2.4GHz) + 4x4 (5GHz) + 4x4 (5GHz) system, the 5 GHz radios are supporting 160 MHz bandwidth
Orbi 9 Quad-band AXE11000 Router (1200 + 2400 + 2400 + 4800 Mbps), 2x2 (2.4GHz) + 4x4 (5GHz) + 4x4 (5GHz) + 4x4 (6 GHz) system, the 5 GHz and 6 GHz radios are supporting 160 MHz bandwidth
The major difference between Orbi and the Nighthawk Mesh is that Orbi is using a proprietary system, while the Nighthawk Mesh is built on an IEEE Mesh standard.
