The R8000 supports smart connect (band steering). You can turn that feature on and it sets a single ssid for all 3 bands and lets the router steer devices between the bands as needed.

Use a wifi scanner on your phone/laptop and see which radio band gives you the best signal. In general, 2.4 GHz is more about range than throughput, while 5 GHz is the reverse
