new netgear,, want to set as a bridge to old,

In my understanding the D7000v2 does require a wired connection - being either an xDSL link to the ISP or an Ethernet connection to whatever device is providing the uplink, e.g. the Internet access.
In the second case, with an Ethernet link to an upstream router, you can configure the D7000v2, you can Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router Model D7000v2 - Use the Modem Router as a WiFi Access Point (p.91 ff.).
If your only connection towards that other router is wireless, there is nothing you can do with the very sophisticated D7000v2 (a modem-router device). For this use case, a WiFi Range Extenders are the way to go.
