Hi there, sorry it is a Netgear R7800 wireless router. I've got it plugged in with a 30m cat6 ethernet cable in a room at the bottom of my garden.
But whenever I reset the router or there's a power cut it loses the Internet connection. I have spoke to Netgear it is running the up-to-date firmware v1.0.2.92 but they want to charge me to help me and if it's just something I can do in the settings of both routers, then I am more than capable of doing this with a bit of help if somebody knows Where I'm going wrong like I said it works perfect I'll give it a different SSID name and password to the main router in the house. I also set up guest on it. It works for days / weeks but if I have a power cut or I reset the router it loses the Internet connection, nothing else if you could help I would be much appreciated
Thanks Lee

I have one of those on my network. Used to be the bees knees router, but getting bit out of date.
How about the other questions?
If there is one it might also help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that connects this router to the Internet. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.
An essential detail before we can begin on anything else.

/gateway/ONT are in the router settings l think but why do you need them to solve this problem?- michaelkenwardMar 05, 2024Guru - Experienced User

Pick up the modem. (Or look at where it is screwed to the well.) See if it has a label that tells you who made it and what the model number might be.
Failing that, a good start might be where you are, which ISP you use and what type of Internet you have.
