Thanks for all the ideas and responses.
I finally had the time to purchase a USB->Serial cable and try the TFTP route. However, for my surprise the problem seems to be a bit different than most similar posts in the foruns. Usually, the boot will look something like this in a normal router;

Which then I could press the CTRL+C to get to the CFE terminal. However, mine is looping way before getting to the CTRL+C part, and the out is like this in eternal loop;

My guess after seeing this was that the reset button was stuck or had a short, but checking with a multimeter revealed that the button is actully working properly.
Have someone saw something similar to this and was able to recover it?
