Nighthawk 9000 supply cord so hot dripping oily substance TWICE

Purchased in 2018, never had any issues. Monday evening My tv informed it couldn’t connect to network, looked at my phone and my router wasnt showing up. I went to the router to find a blinking white power light. I went to the plug to unplug and plug back in. It had a weird brown oily substance. I ordered the same power supply cord and today it arrived. Plugged it in and router came back on and everything was good! For 30 minutes… router was off line again. I went to the power supply cord and it was very very hot. If you you held onto it for 20 seconds you would for sure have a burn. I unplugged and tried different outlet. Few minutes later router was back online and everything was good. This time, it only took 5 minutes of being online working, before it went back offline. Still had the white blinking power light. Went and looked a few minutes ago at the power supply brick, it has the same oily substance coming from the prong area. I’m sure something is melting because of the heat. My question is what can I do to Stop this? Never had any issues! Does the router make the power supply line that hot? How is that possible?

I'd be getting rid of that router.

It isn't worth burning your home down.
