Nighthawk ac1900 factory reset doesnt work

I managed to forget my admin password for my router. In order to reset it, the internets told me to do a factory reset, which I did by pressing the factory reset button until the power light blinks orange (about 7 seconds).

I was then instructed to use the password: password to login and start the setup procedure.

Unfortunately, this password doesn't work in either the wifi login or the routerlogin.com method that uses admin as the username.

My router is now completely useless and locked behind a mystery password.....
