What did you actually do?
What do you want to achieve with remote access?
What Netgear hardware is this?
AC2300 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the model number.
Remote access is giving way to Anywhere Access.

I have one. It supports Anywhere Access.
PS Register the R7000P with MyNetgear and you won't have to guess what devices you own.

Thanks, I was just reading about Anywhere Access. That’s what I’ll do next time I get to the location.
Thanks again for responding

So I bought a device called "Keep Connect". This device works incredibly well so far. Look it up !
Basically, this device is a WiFi wall plug (power for the router) that monitors your internet connection. So, if the internet connection is lost it will cut power to the wall plug and wait 30 second (default/customizable), then reboot itself and restore power to the plug.
I have had 2 reboots in the last week and everything is working perfect.
What if your internet provider is down for an extended period of time or 3 reboots don't work? the device tries 3 reboots (default/customizable) then waits 4 hours (default/customizable) to start the reboot process again
You can also set a time interval, in days, to automatically reboot your router via a power plug off/on cycle.
