Nighthawk CM1150V / Orbi RBR20 Networking Failure
Something that should be so simple it's driving me crazy. I have xFinity, regrettably, and have been using the Nighthawk CM1150V for almost 2 years. When I bought it I had already purchased the Orbi RBR20/RBS20 wireless setup for better wifi throughout my house. However, when I put it all together, I couldn't get anything to work. With both connected together, it takes down my entire wired network. I ended up buying a cheap wifi adapter to hang off the back of the Nighthawk, just to get things going. It finally died and I'm trying to implement the Orbi setup again. When I connect the RBR20 to any of the 4 Nighthawk ethernet ports, I can get it to come up without error (magenta aura), but it will not get an IP address from the Nighthawk and though it shows on the available wireless list, there's no connecting to it. Since I can't setup the Nighthawk for either bridging or passthrough, what do I need to do so that 1) the Orbi gets an IP address from the Nighthawk via DHCP, and 2) Wifi machines connected to the Orbi get an IP address from either the Nighthawk or the Orbi (I don't care which). I can't get to the Orbi config setup (no DNS and no given IP address to open a browser to).
Thoughts, experience, lessons learned are appreciated.

do you have anything else connected to the cm1150v?
Its a modem only device on with xfinity, only 1 device can be connected to it. Reason why is they only support 1 public ip address unless you pay for more or have a business class line from them.

The CM1150V is the only device connected directly to xFinity (via coax). The Orbi isn't supported nor does it have a coax connection. I've tried removing everything from the other 3 ports on the nighthawk, and even removed the rj11 connection. The nighthawk comes up, the orbi router comes up, but nothing can get to the internet cause the orbi doesn't have an ip address, nor any other info that the nighthawk should have handed down via dhcp.

what firmware is on the orbi?
Try this.
Factory reset the orbi and the CM1150v. Push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds on both.
Power off the cm1150v and the orbi. Disconnect everything from both and wait several minutes.
then connect coax back to the cm1150V.
power it on and wait 2 minutes for it to fully boot.
Connect port 1 on it to the wan port on the RBR's Wan port.
then try going through setup on the RBR.
Some isp's take a while to reassign the public ip address. So sometimes you need to power it down/back up in proper sequence.
