what modem do you have?
What firmware is on the router?
Devices aren't connecting to the wireless ssid? What error are you getting?

Hi!
Modem is an Arris Surfboard SVG2482AC and was provided by our cable/internet provider. As far as firmware for the router, I wouldn't know where to look for that, could you help me? And as for the last question: the router appears to turn on and its network appears to have full bars when I look for it in my computer and phone's network settings. However, the light indicating internet connection is shinning an orange/amber color. The devices appear to connect to the network, with the signal alternating between weak and medium, but no actual web page manages to load. The connection, when I've able to get one only lasts a couple of minutes until it crashes.
Hope this helps!

it does help.
That arris device is a modem/router/voice combo device.
meaning you're using 2 routers in router mode on your network.
its called a double nat

options to fix it? (only use 1 method)
1. put the arris in modem only/passthrough mode. Disables its router functions
2. put the netgears IP address into the Arris's DMZ.
3. Put the netgear in access point mode.
