Modem is my own, Arris Surfboard SB-8200. I'm 99% sure the cord is not the problem as I only use Cat 5e or better, but I'll swap in the cord I got 220 Mbps on my laptop just in case. Otherwise factory reset will be the next step.

Just wanted to follow up - the factory reset fixed the problem. Kind of a pain to have to do that, but I guess if it works...
Too bad it doesn't just automatically fix itself after a normal reboot. Oh well, just wanted to post my results, my speeds are now matching when bypassing the router and when using a LAN port. Thanks all.

It does normally.
A reset isn't needed most of the time. A reboot usually works.
One thing you can try is to save the configuration before you update the firmware. Then if you have issues after an update you can reset the device and reload the saved settings..
This can revive the problem you had before the reset, but it doesn't always. If the issue resurfaces, then you just have to reset again.
In any case, you should always have a backup that you can reload for whatever reason.
