Nighthawk R6900 won't work with older laptop
My R6900 will not work wireless with an old Compaq Presario but works wireless with my Sony Viao and apple products. Can rhe R6900 be configured to work with older laptops? Everything worked well...

If you can, set up a guest user with no security? But that brings its own problems.

The router is set to "WPA2-PSK [AES]". Should it work on "WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2- PSK [AES]" or "WPA/WPA2 Enterprise"? The mode is set to "Up to 600 MPS". Thanks for the come back.

Making that one change got it working. I really appreciate the assistance.
Thanks again

The manual (page 240) refers to this in the section Troubleshoot WiFi Connectivity.
"Does your WiFi device support the security that you are using for your WiFi network (WPA or WPA2)?"
If you really want to use this combination of hardware, have you tried setting the wifi security to none, and live with the risks?
