This setup has been working perfectly since July 2022 with no issues whatsoever. About 2 weeks ago, everything in the house lost connections with the network. After plugging devices directly into the cable modem, etc., I was able to determine that the problem was with the Nighthawk. As a temporary fix, I went straight from the cable modem to SmartThings hub and let it function as the router. It's not my preferred option since it requires a connection out to Samsung's servers to provide an internet connection. But it has worked fine since then.
Tonight I tried putting the Nighthawk back in the network. It would not maintain a consistent connection and everything kept disconnecting from my home network. I did a hard reset to see if that would work. Initially, it seemed like that solved the problem. But after a few minutes, connections started dropping again.
Any ideas on what to troubleshoot and how? Any awareness of software update problems? Firmware says it is up to date. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
The internal firmware update check has proven historically unreliable.
What is the specific firmware version number you presently have installed? Compare to the most recent firmware update available here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r6900v2/#download.
Some general questions. What is the brand name and model number of the cable modem connected upstream?
Do you loose connections over Ethernet as well as Wi-Fi?

I verified the firmware version is 1.2.0.92 which matches the version on the Netgear support page.
Upstream cable modem from the cable company is Arris CM3200A.
WiFi connection seems be ok (currently Nighthawk is downstream from SmartThings router/hub and broadcasting its own Netgear default WiFi.). But speeds are definitely slower (164 Mbps via SmartThings network versus 64 Mbps with Nighthawk network using Ookla on an iPhone.). Direct ethernet connection from Nighthawk to laptop seems to be quick and stable without any noticeable drops in the connection.

The first recommendation I would make is to connect your router as the first device downstream of the modem, not downstream of your SmartThings hub. I am not sure what your hub is doing to your data packets, but it is most likely interfering with the function of your router.
