I would love to answer these questions for you, but have NO idea how to.
How do i know what kind of cable it is? It is the yellow ethernet cable that came with the router.
How do i check the channels?
And what does all this mean - i am not a technical person - i am a functional software consultant, so this network stuff is challenging for me:
Enable IPv6 Auto Detect on the router. - how do i do this
Is SIP ALG enabled or disabled on the router? _ how do i know?

There will be printing on the cable that will or should have a CAT# there.

Log into the routers web page at 192.168.1.1 using a PC and web browser.
Channels will be under Basic/Wireless settings.
IPv6 will be under Advanced Tab/Advanced
SIP ALG will be under Advanced Tab/Setup/WAN setup.
If needed. find someone that can help you with this.

There will be printing on the cable that will or should have a CAT# there. - Mine says CAT5E
On the NightHawk app - i did find that is it is showing Channel 1,7, and 153
It is showing Current Channel: 1 and BEST for clarity
Channel 7 also says BEST for Clarity
Channel 153 says GREAT for Clarity.
I found this in the wifi analytics on the app.
I will talk to my tech guy when he gets back from PTO about the other recommendations you listed.
