NightHawk R7000 Dual-Band | WiFi "Off"
My R7000 randomly has Wireless turned off and I cannot get it to turn back on. NetGears support is terrible just for a start, I don't know who thought it was a good idea to put Tier 1 support behind...

Factory reset again per support, left the Wi-Fi default and still says off, then I was pushed to purchase their support. 😞
I'm finding it hard to follow this "conversation". Let's start at the beginning.
What firmware version do you have on the device?
A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.
It might also help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The make and model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.
Apologies for all the questions. But you can help people to help you by providing the information suggested in this forum's header:
Subject (Include model number and brief summary)
Model (Recommended - Helps the community give the best answers)
Body (Include additional detail including model version, firmware, OS and environment where relevant.)
They are there for a good reason.

You're good, my frustration is not the fact its broken but with NetGears support structure.
And yes my descriptions can be all over the place! 😂

Custom Router: Beelink with OPNSense
I have attached my topology, a side note, I took this completely off my network, LAN'ed into it, Factory Reset, and it automatically boots into Off after the setup, tried Router mode, AP mode (On network, receiving DHCP from OPNSense, static IP'd in OPNSense table, and R7000), left all settings default that I could, also setup and changed SSID/Password many times, no duplicate SSIDs, networks, or IPs.
This device receives DHCP and LANs fine, both on static IP and like you said DHCP behind a DHCP LAN works.
Ran fine for two months then the WiFi went to off on its own with me changing no settings in any devices (All devices up to date). (This was originally in AP mode pulling DHCP from OPNsense, the R7000 works this way on LAN as well)

I am puzzled. The R7000 is in AP mode. What is it there for?

How does it matter? Not the worst decision if one has such a nice home network design in place. For some unknown reason - and there are several similar reports - it appears the WiFi can't be enabled anymore under some conditions. It's like a long fil rouge over time.

Thanks, it's about a $1,200 labbing system and home network with more incoming. 😉
This is my primary wireless router, when in Routing LAN works (Different ranges than OPNsense), when in AP routing works (OPNSense DHCP) on a custom range separate from the rest.
I messed with this thing for 5 hours Changing, turning things On/Off, Resetting, just could not get it working; I had to export and reconfigure my alt Router to provide wireless to my home. (This is a $40 Wireless Router lol)
Yes, I have seen the pages and pages on different forums suggesting different things and none were working.Appears it goes across device models too, probably some sort of Base Code recycling and an auto update broke it or they do some wonky stuff because this company is constantly trying to get me to spend massive amounts of money on their support Blah Blah.

Okay later note, I manually updated the Firmware with a newer version, reset, and still stuck in off, turned Wireless On/Off/Renamed, still not working.
We have Netgear Switches at my work and damn.. They are really really bad, they would literally send traffic across VLANs and randomly corrupt configurations all the time, constantly having to reset and re-upload configs..
It's kinda insane to me they want me to drop another $100+ to get my $250 router working again, I can buy a Ubiquiti for $99 lol
