Nighthawk r7000 Overnight Blocking
I'm trying to set up overnight blocking for a couple of my kids devices. I have assigned permanent IP addresses to those devices in the LAN configuration panel and set the timer from 11pm at night t...
- Aug 13, 2015I have too many other devices that connect to WiFi to have to turn it off for everyone and manually turn access on and off after setting up 2 profiles. Unfortunately until they have a better parental control panel, the only way to manage this apparently is by changing the time zone on the router by an hour and use the single window in the parental control panel for only the 2 devices I want to block. I'll have to adjust for DST and email time stamps will be off (I don't use that feature anyway).

Had the same problem before and what I did was I set 2 separate schedules. Since you want to block the access from 11PM to 4PM the following day, set the 1st schedule to 11PM-12MN and the 2nd schedule 12MN or 12:01AM-4PM for the following day.
Hope this will also work for you. :smileyhappy:

Thanks for the response - that sounds like a great solution. Unfortunately my UI doesn't allow me to have more than one schedule. I'm on firmware version V1.0.4.30_1.1.67.
I'm in Advanced>Security>Schedule. Is there a different location to set up a second schedule?

Are you setting the schedule for wireless devices? If so, go to Advanced > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings > Add new period button > Apply
Make sure to check the box where it says Turn off wireless signal by schedule then Apply.

OK I see that, thanks. Will that apply to only the devices I have in the security policy or does that shut down the WiFi for everyone (I only want it for a couple of devices).

it will shut down entire wifi bands. If you want to block then keep then blocked from accessing and unblock its a matter of few second even if you have 5 devices to do so.
Otherwise see the parental control can have time based access to internet.
