Actually, with the greatest of respect, 'I have recently downloaded the newest firmware' means little. Unless of course you have been directly to Netgear's firmware page for your router and downloaded it from there. This forum is littered with threads by folks who state they have the latest firmware, only to discover that they are often 5 or 6 firmware downloads behind what is actually on their router. I'd be interested to know exactly what firmware you are therefore on?
And I wouldn't bother trusting the NIghthawk App either. I had to downgrade from v.128 to v126 because v.128 broke my 5g WiFi. The Nighthawk App tells me there are no firmware updates even though I am now one firmware update behind the current one for my router.
As for your internet speeds, it could be absolutely nothing to do with the router, it could be your environmental situation, how far is your router placed from your devices? How many devices are you attempting to connect to WiFi? Have you tested your download speed over ethernet?
If your internet provider has come out and changed your modem, what did they advise? Could it be you need to change your router for a different model? How old is your router?

Sometimes when I have done the speed test I have had my device right next to the router. I have at most 15 devices hooked up to the router. I have put the ones that have to run off the 2g on that network and then put the others on the 5G network. I have tested the modem through Ethernet but I have not actually tested the router through the Ethernet. Spectrum has said the reset the router in which I did last night and all that did was change the network name and passwords back to the original setting. Spectrum keeps pushing me to go back to their new router the smart router and I can’t do that Bc I have cameras and Alexa devices that have to be on the 2g network and the smart router Tries to put them on the 5G network.

Details are key.
1. what wired speed do you get from the modem (numbers not "full speed)?
2. what wired speed do you get directly connected to the router?
3. what 2.4ghz speeds do you get from the router and what device/devices did you test on?
4. what 5ghz speeds do you get and what device/devices are you testing on.
Make sure you try several devices and several test sites.
Also, after your factory reset, make sure you left qos, access control, traffic monitoring, and parental controls all disabled.
