I have Spectrum with a "fast" plan (500 Mbps), but I am consistently getting less than 50 Mbps using WiFi via the router. It's becoming more common recently (almost daily). Sometimes when I re-set/re-boot the router (unplug, wait 10 seconds and re-plug in) the faster WiFi speed returns, but next day the same thing. I always check my speeds on the desktop using a direct Ethernet connection, so I know it's not the Internet speed in general, but specifically the router/WiFi. I confirmed that I have the latest firmware (V1.3.2.134). Using "Smart Connect" but same problems even when not using. Also "Anywhere Access" is enabled. Traffic metering is disabled. Am using an Arris Surfboard modem with only one (1) LAN port (which is plugged directly into the Nighthawk router; another ethernet cable goes from the router to the desktop). Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
The model number of your Arris modem would be helpful.
Since you are dealing with Wi-Fi, have you connected directly to the R7000P with an Ethernet cable and computer to confirm the throughput capacity you are receiving from Spectrum?
Recommend you disable smart connect until you get this sorted out. With smart connect disabled, you will need to put in separate SSID's for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
What devices are you connecting to your Wi-Fi and what application are you using to measure throughput?
Recommend using the Ookla native application for your device operating system. Available from the play stores.
