If it is still in warranty, go down that route.

Yes, I submitted a warranty ticket around the time I asked the forum for help. I thought I'd see if I could learn some new troubleshooting or try everything I could to do fix it while I wait for customer service to get back to me.

One simple thing to try that I haven't seen mentioned is a different power adapter.
They are pretty generic so you may have something suitable lying around. Especially if, like me, you have loads of old kit lying around awaiting the great recycler in the sky.

I mean you can flash it with dd-wrt and if it doesn't work out, you can re-flash it back to netgear firmware again.

Nothing wrong with that, but when you flash third-party firmware, make a note on how to get it back to the stock firmware. And save copies of any essential files.
I mention that because we see a steady trickle of messages here from people crying "Help, how do I get back to Netgear firmware?"
Netgear doesn't support other firmware, so this isn't the best place to ask for that sort of help.
The third party firmware sites are usually pretty good at explaining how to go about that, but it is a good idea to be prepared before you make the jump.
