Nighthawk R7350 only getting 300mbps on Spectrum Ultra 500 Service
Within the last month I recently subscribed to Spectrum Ultra 500 service. The technician came up and told me I was definitely getting almost 600 or more from the modem. I tried my Wavlink router fi...

Testing with Wi-Fi Tablet and more then one Wi-Fi phone that is used as Wi-Fi only. I'll give me the same speed through the Ookla speed test. And are tested only one at a time, separately so it's not using bandwidth.
Tests done over wifi test the performance of the wif clients involved. They tell you little about the performance of your router.
300 Mbps is pretty good for many wif clients.
If you use the Nighthawk app to test speeds, that also uses Speedytest/Okla in the process. The app may connect ti the router with wifi, but all it does is to tell the router to test the speed of its connection to the modem. It is effectively the same as a wired test through the router.
yes I have the latest firmware.
Famous last words. That won't convince many people without telling is the version of the firmware.

First of all for your final last words, firmware version.V1.2.0.92_1.0.1
And second I've tested it with both the Netgear app and also just using the speed test app on its own and I'm getting the same results from both. So it's got to be something in the router that's not letting get the results that I subscribe to. I have a friend who has Netgear router and Spectrum modem and only the 300 service and he's getting 350. I know you can't compare apples and oranges but I should be getting more than 300 on my service.

Actually that will probably all you see with between your devices and this model router. 5Ghz AC and most 2x2 devices top out at around 200-500Mbps with 40-80Mhz channel width. You'll not see over this. Nature of 5Ghz AC.

https://support.google.com/fiber/answer/6250056#zippy=%2Cmobile-devices-wi-fiWired ethernet connections would see near 900Mpbs.
- DogRoxDec 15, 2023AspirantWell that's with my 5G that I'm testing all my tablets on. With 2.4 only get like 20 to 30 at most download speed. But I do have a wired Xbox and a wired PS4 and they're only getting about 200 download speed and only like about 5 or 10 upload speed if that. People are saying that it's just the servers that I'm testing with them so how am I supposed to test it if that's the only wired connections that I have? And what would be a better router than so I can get the full 500 that I'm paying for?

Ya speed testing with game consoles and there services is not reliable. I never test with my xbox consoles. Only reliable way to speed test is with a ethernet connected PC or laptop. Ya 2.4Ghz will be even slower. 20 or 40Mhz channel width there. Usually won't see much over 200Mpbs depending. Nature of that beast.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
If you log into the routers web page, under advanced tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless settings, do you see any MIMO, Beamforming or 160HT options here by chance?

Thanks. That really is the latest.
Have you reset the router since that update?
Never trust a router's own tests when it says "No update available".
The factory reset is more a "witchcraft" move than a technically informed solution, but it does seem to fix problems, especially on the wifi front. It is also the first thing that Netgear support will recommend.

Plug a PC into the router and use something like the Windows Speedtest app to test.
By the way. the R7350, from around 2019, should be fine with the Internet connection, but has never been the word's greatest router.

Yes getting the upgrade firmware updated I mean, was the first thing we did. And yes it's been reset because he wanted to hook it up to the modem and get all the information. And that's been done twice because after he left a couple days later I still couldn't get it above 333 or so so I end up contacting them again because it went down somehow. And I talked to a technician on the phone and they said do a reset again obviously but they didn't know I did it the first time. Which I did while I was on the phone with them. And it went back up to 300 plus but that's it. So there's still no recommendation for what better router I should get? Nobody's answering me about that question. And yes I would definitely get a new router if that was the case
