so you're running a N600 cable modem/router combo device (model #?) and the R7960P?
Are they both in router mode?
I get you turned off wifi and the N600 but if you didn't put it in modem mode, you're running in a double nat. That can cause some slow downs.

"wi-fi" implies modem+router, not simply "modem". What's its actual
model number? C3700? C3700v2? Other? Look at the product label.

That's not enough to stop it from being a router, and you don't want
two routers.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for
some topic like "Change the Router Mode". Selecting "Router Mode: No"
should make it a modem-only.

Giving you two cascaded routers, not one router, which might cause a

When I changed C3700 setting to modem-only, I was not able to log back into the modem to revrt the settings so I figured I had "broke" my router and had to do a facotry reset. If this is suppose to happen, then I'll continue forward. It will be a couple of days to determine if issue persists. I'll reply then.

you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.
I lack experience with cable-TV stuff, so I know nothing, but, with
the modem+router router disabled, I'd expect "routerlogin.XXX" names (a
router feature) to fail, along with the usual modem+router IP address,
"192.168.0.1". However, I'd expect the usual DOCSIS (modem) access
address, "192.168.100.1" to work. Otherwise, you might need a settings

To add detail "not able" to access modem, I use the netgear desktop app, net genie, to access the C3700 network settings. Another way was typing in the IP address into the address bar to access the modem. Once I disabled router mode to "off", to enable modem mode, access to the modem was no longer available and a different IP is now listed on the netgear genie app, not in the form of "192.168.100.1". LED's are still working, no change there and I still have internet access, I just cannot access the modem through the netgear genie desktop app. I've connected my router and things continue working as normal. Devices connect etc. But like you mentioed, "...you might need a settings reset to restore access to the C3700 management web site." If that's normal, then I'll anotate it on my notes for the modem and reset it to factory settings if I need to revert it back to utilize Wi-Fi.
Aside from that, I'm away from home so I'll follow up on whether my internet is still loading up slowly. Thanks again.
