Nighthawk R800 - Firmware Control
Hi There, It's my first post so please be gentle. We recently bought a Nighthawk R800 and have been loving it, but today our router restarted due to a firmware update is there any way we can auto swit...

Suspected there was no auto-update but would claim there wasn't. The latest F/W, V1.0.4.12 did come out a long time ago, so I'd think if there was auto-update involved it would have happened maybe sometime last month if staged out over a few weeks.'
More than likely it was a modem or ISP line going down?

Welcome to the Netgear Community!
Assuming all Nighthawk routers use the same UI menu structure, check [Advanced] -> Administration -> Firmware Update -> Router Auto FIrmware Update
Keen to learn if your new installed R8000 has this enabled by default - what would be a strange decision.

I have tried that going to advanced settings, sorry i should have mentioned this. When I go into firmware update, it’s just check now or browse for a file.
O think it may be on by default, it’s strange there’s no option to disable auto update.- IrvSpApr 10, 2018Master

May come in a future update possibly. I have not had the R8000 since there was an update of the firmware so I can't say for sure it is automatic or not?

Amazing AbhayB NaderA - a router with Auto Update enabled by default, and no user control to disable? Design, development, and implementation seems to run out of any control.

There's clearly misunderstanding that R8000 even has auto-update firmware. Secondly, all Nighthawks that have auto-firmware update feature has ability to opt-out through advanced setting. So I am not sure where this issue is coming from.
