The Ex7300 has a switch on the side for extender mode or access point mode.
flip the swith over to extender mode, then factory reset the extender (push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds while powered on), then use the installation assistant for setup.
- JayArehDec 28, 2020AspirantThank you but that is one of the things I have tried.
I would say I am at intermediate level as far as networking and general device set up.
I’ve installed the firmware for the application recommended by Netgear I have also installed it using the TTFP? Neither way of updating the firmware has been successful.
Everything was working fine until I updated the firmware and now every time I reset the router it will only allow access point mode not extender mode. Regardless of the position of the switch.
I feel like the extender is bricked now, but I’m hoping for some solution from the community. I could not find this topic anywhere on the Internet so I’m not sure that this happens often but apparently this has happened in my case.
Is there anyway I can manually force the extender to be in extender mode other than the switch? I am also going deep into my router to investigate any potential issues. I have reset the router and also tried to test the extender in access point mode which it does work perfectly. However I do not want to use it and access point mode as having another ethernet cable across my house is something I was trying to avoid.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated I’ve seen this community saw some really have to question so anything that you guys have as far as the solution is greatly appreciated.- plemansDec 28, 2020Guru - Experienced User

When its bricked, you can't access/use it at all.
Is there anyway I can manually force the extender to be in extender mode other than the switch?----no, those models used the switch. maybe its a hardware failure of the switch. wouldn't be the first time a switch has failed. Its why they moved away from hardware switches (and cost). I am also going deep into my router to investigate any potential issues.
