The router is located downstream:
- Gateway: DKT Comega 79733 (fibre incoming)
- Telia F1 router (ethernet cable between gateway and F1 router)
Ethernet cable between F1 router and R8000 router.
The F1 router is in bridge mode.
I am curious as to the functional purpose of the Telia F1 router (in bridge mode) connected between the ONT gateway and the R8000?
Why is your R8000 not connected directly to your ONT gateway?
Beat me to it.
And what does "bridge mode" mean?
In a modem/router it means disabling the router bit. In a router it usually means "wireless bridge" with the router still active.

Thank you for reply.
Correct regarding bridge mode. For a modem/ router the bridge mode sets the router out of function. In this case the router function of the F1 modem/router.
Prefer to use the R8000 since it has better functionalities than the F1 and can be located in a more optimal location (than F1) to distribute the wifi signal accross the building.
The F1 has to be located close to the fibre intake. That location is not optimal for wifi.
Anyhow this is detour. Any suggestions to my question?

Thanks for conforming that we are all correct about bridge mode and modem/routers. But this "telegraphic" answer leaves questions unanswered.
The F1 modem/router is connected to the "fibre intake". Should that be fibre output? Is that a cable modem/router or fibre-optic-optical network termination (ONT)? Something else?
Google suggests that the "F1 modem/router" connects to a " fiber optic converter".
How do you connect the R8000 to the F1?
As Kitsap says, why is the F1 in there?

Not without a clearer understanding of what is going on at your end.

Hi again,
As mentioned above: "Ethernet cable between F1 router and R8000 router."
Please note, again, that everything worked well until the change of password. It has worked well for years.
And it actually works perfect in this moment.
So there is nothing wrong with the hardware setup itself. All signals goes perfectly correct.
Except once a week.
The question is; what in the software is it that, once a week, disturbs everything and forces me to reset the R8000 router?
If you still believe there is something wrong with hardware setup. Please explain why you expect the hardware setup to suddenly become a problem because of a changed password.
Thank you

You make two assumptions there. First that there is something in the "software", whatever that means, and that the only way to recover is to reset the router.
The router doesn't have software, If it is on the router's firmware then you may find some clues in the R8000's logs.
If you still believe there is something wrong with hardware setup. Please explain why you expect the hardware setup to suddenly become a problem because of a changed password.Given the nature of your network, it isn't easy to guess might be happening.
Reading stuff that wafts by here, those "timed" glitches can be down to something going on at the ISP. That again might show in the logs.
Then there is the possibility of some quirk in the Internet settings, or even in the password.
Again it remains unclear to me if you have answered the question from Kitsap about the "modem/router" and what it is doing in there.
As to the sudden appearance of this issue, did it happen before you updated the firmware last month? (That version actually came it in October 2024.)
By the way. the R8000 dates back to April 2015, so it is getting a bit long in the tooth.
