Try turning off QOS. You really don't need it with the speeds you can get.

Jan 20, 2016That depends on what you're attaching it to. In my opinion the usb ones for laptops are a waste of money. If you have a desktop it will depend on what open slots you have.
Some laptops can be upgraded to a AC client, I did several sony's to Intel AC 7260 for $25 each, laptop MUST have 2 antennas to be able to update.

What Searay says about the Intel AC 7260 is correct BUT many laptops will not let you upgrade the internel adapter due to their firmware being coded to a specific adapter.
Your laptop may also be to old to accept an internal Intel AC 7260 or external USB3 adapter.

So if I were to do anything it would be an external adapter but my computer is too old so Im basically out of luck until I get a better computer?

That would probably work for you if you have USB3 ports and not just USB2 ports. USB2 will limit you to 480 Mbps if the rest of your system can handle the speeds.
