Try turning off QOS. You really don't need it with the speeds you can get.
I have QOS running but I didnt change anything but the SSID and password. Everything is the same.

What mode @ 289 I connect @ 180 and tranfer @ 18MBps
@ 1300 I connect 877.6 and tranfer @ 70MBps
My speed test are 126MBps on all settings. I have AC clients so these mean nothing in comparison to non AC clients. AC is ALWAYS on and the rates go up as the channel bonding goes up as long as client has more than 2 antennas to realise 1300
If he's topped at 50 then make sure WMM is enabled and using WPA2 Or his client is a older version which limits streams.
A couple of things,
1. Im a woman.
2. I will double check all of these things later today.
3. I think I will just purchase the adapater and see if helps.
