Nighthawk x6 R8000 update changes

When R8000 first installed there were 3 connection choices, 2 for 2.4GHz and 1 for 5G. Since last 2 updates, now there is only 1 for 2.4GHz. After resetting router, remain unable to locate other 2 bands, unable to change band name, or access Netgear Genie again. Can login to mynetgear on desktop, but only way to install updates is via mobile device. Any clues would be appreciated.

  • What Firmware are you running?  I have the same router and I see 1 for 2.4 Ghz and 2 for 5g.  I am running the latest firmware available for the router.  The only problem that I have for the newest versions is Readyshare stopped working.

Microsoft firmware,Win 10. WiFi Networks lists only one connection and no option to add additional network. "All WiFi Bands" shows only one 2.4GHz connection. R8000 is updated to V2.7.6.1379. Router Settings shows Firmware Version as v1.0.4.68.

Have you turned on smart connect?

"For Smart Connect to work, both 5 GHz radio bands must use the same wireless network name (SSID) and network key (password). That means that when you connect to the router with WiFi, you see only one 5 GHz SSID that connects to both 5 GHz radio bands."
