Nighthawk x8 dc adapter jack size?
The DC adapter jack on the back of my nighthawk x8 broke. The plastic cylinder that holds the two metal pins which clamps on the pin of the AC adapter barrel has broken off. My plan is to de-solder the this jack and replace it with another one. Can anyone help me determine which jack to buy? I found a CUI-devices PJ-019 on digikey that might be a fit. It has 5.5mm outside diameter, 3.3 mm inside diameter, and will clamp a 1mm pin. Is this correct?
If I can't find the correct replacement jack, I will simply solder wires and on the board and hardwire it to the ac adapter. However, it would be more elegant if I can replace the jack. I would appreciate any help on this issue.
Regards,
cw

I'm not sure exactly what the jack size is but you could always buy a jack and barrel combination. Then solder the new jack on and cut/rewire the end of the cord. That'd allow you to choose whatever jack you throught was appropriate.

One way to check the specs would be to look at the third party adapters that claim to work with Netgear devices.
You can find suitable adapters in all the usual places. Some list compatibility with different Netgear hardware.
My experience that Netgear uses the same adapters for most similar devices.
Nighthawk x8 doesn't tell us what device you own. (R8500 perhaps?) So at a guess any RXXXX router will have the same tip size.
