No DHCP services in Access Mode
When placed in AP mode, hosts are not issued an IP address from the DHCP server. When I assign a static IP address to a host I can connect to the AP. Our DHCP server is our firewall.

How is the R7000 router configured for AP mode? Dynamic IP or Static IP. Static IP configuration would be recommended that's out side of the host routers default DHCP IP address pool range.

Be sure the R7000 is connected to the host router using the R7000 yellow WAN port while in AP mode.

That is not the newest firmware for the R7000 that you have tagged.

What are you trying to achieve?
The idea of a " static IP address" depends on the context. (For example, it can be something provided by an ISP.) Where are you setting this? Sometimes people say that when they mean Reserved IP address".
