No Internet connection on Guest Network (R9000)
No Internet connection on Guest Network R9000 unless you check (enable) the "Allow the guests to see each other and access my local network" No issues with standard (Secured) Wi-Fi

I have upgraded the firmware on the R9000 router to the latest version (1.0.5.42), have rebooted the router several times, powered off and back on, and devices/computers still have no internet access. All the devices and computers connect to the Guest Network just fine, but they have no internet access. The smartphones show no internet available, and computers show the same thing. The Secured Wi-Fi network works fine, and the Guest Network works if I check the box "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network" which defeats the purpose of protecting your local network. I do not use the router for DHCP, and DNS is configured properly with the ISP's DNS Servers. My Orbi router does not have this issue but the NightHawk R9000 does.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

Thanks for the reply Furrye38.
First off, if DHCP needs to be turned on, then the Guest Network should have its own DHCP Service Pool as an option since the Guest Network should be completely isolated from the local network. Please show me in the documentation where is says DHCP must be enabled on the Router for the Guest Network to work properly when the "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network" is disabled? I am using a Windows Server to provide DHCP and Dynamic DNS for my network which is also providing Active Directory Domain Services so I do not want the Router to perform any of those services. Perhaps that is why is works when I allow access to the local network since the guest computers would then get DHCP and other DHCP options from the Server that is hosting that service.

Are you using the R9000 in AP mode then?
Mines in Router mode AND DHCP is enabled on my router and GN is working correctly.
Officially GN is Not supported in AP mode.

Been like this for a lone time.
GN usually has a separate subnet .2.1 IP address pool. This would be effected by the main DHCP service running both the main and GN networks and if it's disabled, would disable GN from working.
Seems like your using a configuration that doesn't allow normal use of GN unless you have DHCP enabled.

I am in Router mode so it sounds like the only difference between mine and yours is, you have DHCP enabled, and I don't so I just need to hear this from Netgear, that devices on the Guest Network need DHCP either by enabling the DHCP service on the router or by checking the box (enable) to allow access to the local network which would provide DHCP services by my local server. If that is the case, I will be replacing this router. Sure, I could use another front-end router at the border then use the NightHawk as an AP, but I shouldn't have to do that. Maybe Netgear will read this and offer to give me my money back 🙂

...and if I must perform a factory reset and setup from scratch to get this to work properly, then I will never buy another NetGear product again. This issue appears to be a bug since I do not have this issue with other wireless routers in the exact same configuration and in order to speak to someone at NetGear Support, I have to pay for a service contract...are you kidding me? A billion-dollar company and I must pay them to find out there is a bug with their product.

A reset isn't needed here. Calm down.
Its just the configuration your using the router in that may not work for you unless you enable DHCP on the router. GN IS working as expected in this configuration.
